The Department of Economics of Samsi College, Malda, West Bengal, is an esteemed place to study Economics in the region. Since its establishment, the department has consistently delivered high-quality education to students pursuing careers in Economics and its related fields.

The history of the Department of Economics in Samsi College is as old as the college itself. The journey of the department started on September 26, 1968, when it got affiliation from the University of North Bengal (the then affiliating university) to run general level courses. The department continued to teach only general coursed at undergraduate level for the nearly five decades until it got affiliation for honours level courses at undergraduate level on July 02, 2017. Since then, the department is imparting in depth knowledge to the students. The department designs continuously to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Economics, trade, and industry along with specializations include International Trade, resource Economics, Econometrics etc.

The faculty of the department comprises highly qualified and experienced professionals with a strong research focus. They foster a supportive learning environment, encouraging critical thinking, creative problem-solving, data analysis and effective communication skills to the students.

The Department of Economics of Samsi College is dedicated to produce competent and skilled students at undergraduate levels as well as influence them for further studies in the concerned or related fields and also become a professional who can contribute to the nation's growth and development.
