The Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (SVMCM) is a flagship initiative by the Government of West Bengal, aimed at providing financial assistance to meritorious students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This scholarship supports students pursuing higher education across various levels and disciplines, including Higher Secondary (Class XI and XII), Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), Diploma, Engineering, Medical, and Research (M.Phil and Ph.D.) courses, within the state of West Bengal.

Key Features:

  • Eligibility Criteria:

    • Students must be permanent residents of West Bengal.

    • A minimum of 60% marks in the last qualifying examination is required.

    • Annual family income should not exceed ₹2,50,000.

    • The scholarship is available for full-time regular courses in institutions located within West Bengal.

  • Financial Assistance:

    • The scholarship provides monthly financial support, varying by course level:

      • HS Level: ₹1,000

      • UG (Arts/Commerce): ₹1,000

      • UG (Science/Professional): ₹1,500

      • PG (Arts/Commerce): ₹2,000

      • PG (Science/Professional): ₹2,500

      • UG/PG (Engineering/Medical): ₹5,000

      • Diploma Courses: ₹1,500

      • Non-NET M.Phil: ₹5,000

      • Non-NET Ph.D.: ₹8,000

    • Application Process:

      • Applications must be submitted online through the official SVMCM portal: wbhed.gov.in.

      • Required documents include the latest mark sheet, income certificate, admission proof, and a valid bank account.

      • A hard copy of the application form, along with supporting documents, must be submitted to the designated cell within the specified timeline.
